Sports therapy is a clinically-informed, hands-on treatment specialism focused on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and soft tissue conditions — helping people of all activity levels recover from pain and injury and return to full function.
Sports therapy isn’t just for athletes. Whether you’re dealing with a niggling injury from the gym, tension and pain from long hours at a desk, or a recurring problem that keeps flaring up, hands-on treatment can make a significant difference to how you feel and move.
At Ashton Sports Therapy, every treatment session is informed by your specific symptoms, injury history, and activity level. We don’t apply a one-size-fits-all approach — the techniques used in each session are chosen based on what your body actually needs to recover and function well.
Sessions typically combine several soft tissue and manual therapy techniques to address both the site of pain and any contributing factors elsewhere in the body. This might mean working on tight hip flexors to relieve lower back pain, or addressing thoracic mobility to take load off an overworked shoulder — the goal is always to treat the cause alongside the symptom.
Where appropriate, we also incorporate medical acupuncture (dry needling) and Chinese fire cupping to address deeper tension, improve circulation, and support tissue recovery.
Treatment is hands-on throughout. You’ll leave each session with a clear understanding of what was found, what was treated, and what you can do between appointments to support your recovery. Where appropriate, we’ll pair treatment with rehabilitation exercises or a structured programme to help you build long-term resilience.
Follow-up sessions are available as 55 minutes (£55) or 25 minutes (£30). Block bookings of four sessions are available at a reduced rate — four 55-minute sessions for £210, or four 25-minute sessions for £115.
Techniques we use include:
- General deep tissue massage
- Soft tissue release
- Trigger point release
- Joint mobilisation
- Myofascial release
- Muscle energy techniques
- Medical acupuncture (dry needling)
- Chinese fire cupping

Session Pricing
The number and length of sessions you need will vary depending on your injury, how long you’ve had it, and how your body responds to treatment. We’ll assess this at your first appointment and advise on the most appropriate course of treatment.
